Terms of Service

1. About carpooliceland.com

carpooliceland.com is a cost-sharing ride platform operated by V&E ehf. (company ID: 540325-1700). We connect drivers and passengers for shared journeys across Iceland. We are NOT a transportation or taxi service. We do not employ drivers, set fares, or handle payments between users.

2. Cost Sharing — Not a Taxi Service

carpooliceland.com facilitates cost-sharing only. Drivers post rides they are already planning to take and split travel costs — fuel, tolls, and similar expenses — with passengers. Drivers must not use this platform to profit from rides. All financial arrangements between drivers and passengers are made directly between them and are outside our control.

3. User Responsibilities

By using this platform, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and honest information in your listing
• Not use the platform for commercial transportation or taxi services
• Treat all other users with respect
• Comply with all applicable Icelandic laws and regulations
• Hold a valid driving licence and maintain valid vehicle insurance (drivers)
• Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and legally compliant (drivers)

4. Listings

A one-time fee of 450 ISK is required to publish a ride listing. Listings expire automatically after the stated travel date. We reserve the right to remove any listing that violates these terms without notice or refund.

Refund policy: The 450 ISK listing fee is non-refundable. The only exception is if a technical error on carpooliceland.com prevents your listing from being published. In that case, contact us at carpool@tengt.is within 7 days and we will review your case individually.

Publishing time: Listings go live as soon as payment is confirmed, usually within a few minutes.

5. Payments

The 450 ISK listing fee is processed by our payment partner, Rapyd. We do not store your card details. Any cost-sharing payments between drivers and passengers are arranged directly between the parties — carpooliceland.com is not involved in and takes no responsibility for those transactions.

6. Liability

carpooliceland.com is not liable for:

• The behaviour, safety, or reliability of any driver or passenger
• Any accidents, injuries, or losses that occur during shared rides
• The accuracy of information posted by users
• Any disputes between users over cost-sharing arrangements

Use of this platform is entirely at your own risk.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after any changes have been published constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Iceland. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Icelandic courts.
